About the event
Puerto Rico faces an environmental crisis and changes to the ancient coral reefs that have surrounded the archipelago. A variety of voices from the island share their knowledge and perspectives to highlight sustainable ways to protect biodiversity in these living coastal walls. Un Pueblo de Coral is an ecocentric exploration of the archipelago's future, intertwined with its underwater jungles created by animals—a call for its inhabitants to do their part as stewards of the coral reefs.
Alongside un Pueblo de Cora (25 mins), we will present Aguas Cambiantes: Tiempo de Actuar contra la Acidificación del Océano (15 mins, Directed by Monika Naranjo-Shepherd); created by the OA Alliance and LUMA Storytelling. The short film presents stories of communities, scientists, and fishing sectors in Washington, Colombia, and Fiji facing the impacts of ocean acidification and climate change, with the goal of raising public awareness and driving action and support for climate policies…
